The casting for the upcoming The Batman has stirred the pot in the DC fandom, with some excited to see Pattinson’s Batman while others are skeptical. But alongside that, director Matt Reeves has assembled a star-studded cast including Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as Oswald Copperpot or The Penguin.

Due to coronavirus, The Batman has been forced to stop production for now even if it could be that filming could start again soon. But Colin Farrell cannot wait to get back to his new role as The Penguin.

I had only started it and I can’t wait to get back. The creation of it, the aesthetic of the character, has been fun and I really am so excited to get back and explore it. And I haven’t got that much to do. I have a certain amount in the film. I am not all over it, by any means. But there are a couple of… some tasty scenes I have in it, and my creation, and I can’t wait to get back. Yeah, I totally feel like it is something that I have not had the opportunity to explore before. It feels original and fun. But I am only at the start of the journey so I can’t wait to get back and really get into it.

Farrell also stated in the interview that The Penguin isn’t the main antagonist within the film and that there will be at least three other villains from the comics for Pattinson’s Batman to battle against. He also confirmed that it isn’t an origin story and that he will be established as Batman from the very start of the film.

Despite the fact that the pandemic has held back a lot of productions, the industry is still determined to get back to normal and continue creating content for audiences as soon as possible. For now, The Batman has moved its release date to the 1st of October, 2021 when it was originally June 2021. But fans are promised a wild ride when it eventually is released.
