With the announced release of the Snyder Cut, DC fans have been excitedly anticipating what other director’s cuts they could have of other DCEU films that they weren’t happy with – including Suicide Squad. Fans are now trying to persuade Warner Bros. to release David Ayer’s cut of the film.
Especially has he has now revealed that it definitely exists.
“Of course it exists. And it is almost complete except for some visual effects.”David Ayer, Twitter
When the supervillain team-up was released, fans were excited to see Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn but upon viewing, they believed that it was rushed and that the character of the Joker was pushed to one side rather than being a big part of the film. Especially as he was used in a substantial amount of the marketing. Fans were also disappointed with Harley Quinn’s characterisation, of which has been amended slightly in Birds Of Prey.
The Ayer Cut also ties in with Justice League so it would make sense for both intended cuts to be released to see the connection between the two. There are rumours that Warner Brothers are already ahead of the game and are working to release it on HBO Max alongside the Snyder cut.
