The UK sector for film and TV have released guidelines for how the entertainment industry can work safely during the coronavirus pandemic when producing new projects.

This allows productions to continue filming so long as they fulfil the requirements set in front of them – but the issue comes with insurance. The sector have submitted an insurance help plan to the government which they are waiting on confirmation of.

The guidelines set out are to ensure the implementation of personal and environmental hygiene measures and keeping all cast and crew two meters apart. All training must be carried out online and daily symptom checks should be undertaken to ensure the safety of all cast and crew members. The on-set crew should be minimised to the bare essentials to ensure there are as few people as possible on set at each time.

“We’ve worked hard to support the industry through these difficult times, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to agree this step forward towards getting the cameras rolling safely again.”

Oliver Dowden, Culture Secretary
