Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the CW’s shows have been pushed back until early 2021 – but Supergirl won’t be released until summer of 2021.

Although the pandemic has delayed the entertainment industry in a massive way, the reason for the delay on Supergirl is due to the fact that the lead star Melissa Benoist is currently pregnant with her first baby. Alongside husband Chris Wood, The CW want to give the actress plenty of time to deliver her child and have some time with him/her before returning to set.

During this time, they can promote the other Arrowverse shows and the new Superman and Lois series starring Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent. The show will differ from the previous adaptations of the comics that we have seen and will focus on Clark and Lois raising their teenage sons together.

It’s likely that we won’t see Supergirl until the end of the first series of Superman and Lois which is a shame for fans but it is always exciting to see a new superhero on screen.
